- >:Is "WB emulation" a kludge, or is it good enough that I won't notice the
- >:difference? Also, how about Dopus 5's Workbench replacement (emulation?)?
-
- I don't have Dopus 5. Some like it some not.
-
- >:: In some way,, all gfxcards use the same chip as PC gfxcards, and they use
-
- >:So I can expect respectable performance with up to 256 colors?
-
- Yes. I think it's the same as a 4 color ECS Amiga.
-
- >:: Increased resulotions means more work so it is a bit slower.
-
- >:Is "a bit slower" acceptable? I know this is a subjective question, but how
- >:do YOU feel about it?
-
- Normally you work in 8-bits screen and they are fast. But CyberGFX also allow you to have 16
- and 24-bits screen, and yes they are slower. Intuition doesn't support more than 8 bits, but
- Cybergfx do some tricks to make it.
-
- I have only used it some times on WB (you have to change resolution in Screenmode) to show
- JPG pictures on WB. Specially menus was slower. Normally I use Cyberview to show 24-bits
- pictures and this program open an own 24-bit screen, it's much faster. I have a GVP Spectrum
- and there exists faster cards now.
-
- >:: >:What about Zorro III/Buster upgrade?
-
- >:: Most card recognice Zorro III (Picasso is Zorro II only).
-
- >:But what about the rev 11 Buster? Is this upgrade necessary for a Z-III
- >:gfx board?
-
- I have never replaced the buster, and my A3000 is old. I think it's only necessary for
- the Fastlane SCSI-controller to get max speed of it.
-
- >:: >:Maybe this is a big question, but what would I be missing with a
- >:: >:third-party graphics board vs AGA in terms of graphics (besides the
- >:: >:sliding screen trick)? In terms of anything else?
-
- >:: AGA-Games!
-
- >:So, in other words - I wouldn't be missing anything :-)
-
- No, more and more program use a screenmoderequester. Maybe Scala and DPaint work better on AGA.
- I have some faults with those programs.
